PARIS Ferrari Chief on Financial Crisis
Author: Neil Stylinski
Wednesday October 8 2008
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo delivered remarks at the Paris Motor Show, where the company is showing off the new California convertible among other wares. With his perspective as the longest-serving head of a car company still on the job, Montezemolo downplayed the effect of the economic crisis. “We will come back from this with a better world,” he said.“We still have long waiting lists for our cars,” he noted. Indeed, the boss revealed that the California is now sold out for two years. But that just adds to the appeal. “Ferrari[s] have to be like a good-looking woman . . . you have to desire her.”
Those who might fancy a four-door Ferrari along the lines of the Lamborghini Estoque will be disappointed, however. “As long as I am chairman, we will never do a four-door.”
See the gallery for the latest photos of the California, taken in the Golden State, naturally.

PARIS Lamborghini Estoque Concept
Wednesday October 1 2008
Lamborghini apparently couldn’t contain its excitement about the concept car it calls Estoque, named for a bullfighter’s rapier. Slated for a formal reveal tomorrow at the Paris Motor Show, the four-place, four-door sports sedan was shown off today in full-view, hi-res photos. And we can now see why Sant’Agata is ...

Phil Hill Remembered
Sunday September 28 2008
Befitting the eloquent man, the eulogies for Phil Hill this past month have been uncorked like so much fine wine, together spilling a pungent story of a glorious, cultured and heroic life.
The Washington Post pointed out that world champion raced in a different era, when the ...
50K Lube Job
Saturday September 27 2008
Environmentalists are up in arms about the LP640 flown 6,500 miles from Qatar to London and back for an “oil change.” As The Sun newspaper tells it, some rich dude (always described anonymously as a sheikh in such accounts) blew £20,000 on airfare for the £3,552 service at an authorized ...
China s Vast Potential
Saturday September 27 2008
There is much discussion of China’s vast potential both as a consumer and producer of automobiles. Whether this item supports or refutes that idea, we’re not sure. It is a homemade car seen tooling around that ancient land somewhere. The car is made of bits of wood, a leaf-blower motor ...

High Road Auto Group was recently involved in the video production of a National Geographic TV program called The Known Universe. No more untouchable, unknowable, distant Universe: This ...
VIDEO Glickenhaus P4 5 Subject of Documentary
Wednesday September 24 2008
<p>There's a "short documentary" video featuring Jim Glickenhaus and the one-off Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina. It explores the genesis of the Enzo-based creation and the philosophy of its owner. Really, the four and a half minute production is a promo rather than the documentary itself, which we doubt exists yet. ...
