PARIS Ferrari Chief on Financial Crisis

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo delivered remarks at the Paris Motor Show, where the company is showing off the new California convertible among other wares. With his perspective as the longest-serving head of a car company still on the job, Montezemolo downplayed the effect of the economic crisis. “We will come back from this with a better world,” he said.

“We still have long waiting lists for our cars,” he noted. Indeed, the boss revealed that the California is now sold out for two years. But that just adds to the appeal. “Ferrari[s] have to be like a good-looking woman . . . you have to desire her.”

Those who might fancy a four-door Ferrari along the lines of the Lamborghini Estoque will be disappointed, however. “As long as I am chairman, we will never do a four-door.”

See the gallery for the latest photos of the California, taken in the Golden State, naturally.

Wednesday September 24 2008

<p>There's a "short documentary" video featuring Jim Glickenhaus and the one-off Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina. It explores the genesis of the Enzo-based creation and the philosophy of its owner. Really, the four and a half minute production is a promo rather than the documentary itself, which we doubt exists yet. ...
