For Rounds 8 and 9, the series traveled within Quebec to Mt Tremblant. Allie was fast again in Race 1, running behind the leader when Mike Zoi of Shelton Miami made contact, damaging the back of Allie’s car. Readers will remember Zoi as the guy who mauled Skip at VIR, costing him a sure win. Allie remained in the race to finish third. Skip finished eighth in another fine performance by the series rookie, followed by Kevin in 19th, teammate Rick Polm in 20th and Lee in 25th after crashing out.
In Race 2 it was Skip who finished third after capitalizing on another incident involving Allie, this time with Jay Lee of Beverly Hills. The fracas dropped Allie from the lead pack late in the race, putting him ninth at the finish. Kevin ended 23rd, and Rick 26th. Lee DNS’ed due to the bad luck in Race 1.
With one last weekend to go at Fontana (aside from the World Finals in Italy), Skip is second in the standings, 44 points behind Zoi and Lawrence Stroll of Montreal. Stroll missed Race 1 at Mt Tremblant due to a family emergency, putting him at the back of the grid for Race 2. Despite that, he passed 22 cars to finish seventh, good enough for 8 points and a continued grasp on the lead. With 60 points still at stake, it seems Skip’s only championship hope is for Zoi to take himself and Stroll out in one of the remaining races—not unthinkable given Zoi’s history. Allie is seventh in the standings despite missing four rounds for non-racing reasons.

Tifosi traveling to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal last month mainly to see the Canadian Grand Prix may have come away disappointed. (See our F1 report this month.) But those who caught the Ferrari Challenge support race that weekend saw the spectacle of nearly three dozen F430s going at it hammer and tong on the demanding track. Moreover, they witnessed Allie Ash present his racing credentials in no uncertain terms. The Ferrari of Washington principal and team driver passed for the lead on the second-to-last lap, winning him Round 7 of the series. Allie is one of the six original drivers in the series that dates back to 1993. Ferrari CEO Jean Todt presented the winner’s trophy. Team drivers Kevin Reid, Skip Bennett and Lee Alexander finished 17th, 21st and 22nd, respectively. For Rounds 8 and 9, the series traveled within Quebec to Mt Tremblant.
